Programme Monitoring and Information Division (PMI Division)
Main functional responsibility of PMI Division is monitoring of various Government programmes/schemes and coordinating various state level meetings. Main activities of the division are as follows:
a) Karnataka Development Programme reviews:
The performance of the programme is generally reviewed against pre-determined monthly targets every month at the State level. The division coordinates monthly reviews chaired by the Chief Secretary and attended by the Additional Chief Secretaries/ Principal Secretaries/ Secretaries of all departments.
Based on the information collected and consolidated through Decision Support System (DSS) On-line MPIC. Expenditure of departments, status of sanction of ongoing and new schemes, progress made under important programmes like Flagship programmes, Special Development Programme, SCSP/TSP, Externally Aided Projects were reviewed along with review of Evaluation Studies.
In order to carry out urgent action to resolve the difficulties in implementation of important flagship programmes in various departments, review meetings were conducted under the Chairmanship of Hon'ble Chief Minister, Chief Secretary to Government, Additional Chief Secretary to Government and Development Commissioner levels. As per the instructions of Principal Secretary, Planning, this division has to coordinate all these meetings.
b) Monthly Multi-level Reviews of Plan Schemes (MMR):
Based on the information collected through DSS on-line MPIC, progress of various schemes of Planning Department were reviewed under the Chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Planning Department. The division has to conduct these meetings.
c) Centrally Sponsored, Central Plan Schemes and Budget Announcements:
Monthly meetings were conducted to collect the progress achieved under Centrally Sponsored, Central Plan Schemes, including the release of funds by Government of India, implemented by various departments and was placed in the KDP meetings.
Similarly meetings were conducted to collect the status of progress of Budget Announcements of various departments before every KDP meeting and the consolidated report be presented in KDP.
d) The Division as Nodal to other Department
As a nodal division, it is coordinating with Social Welfare, Minorities Welfare, Backward Class Welfare, Women and Child and Food and Civil Supplies departments

- in preparation of Annual Plan.

e) Decision Support System (DSS):
The DSS application (Online MPIC) is being implemented by the Planning Department in collaboration with Centre for e-Governance. The Decision Support System facilitates the online entry of monthly programme for each and every scheme of the department and also online entry of the monthly financial achievement right from the field officer level to the HOD level.
f) Other Activities:
- The division coordinate with various departments, in the preparation of Economic Survey.
- The division has to coordinate the meetings with Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Animal Husbandry, Revenue, Forest, Ecology, Pollution Control Board, Urban Development, Industries and Commerce departments for execution of SDG Goal-13.
